Sometimes, it’s the small things we miss that can make the biggest difference in our lives. For instance, scientist tell us that human beings process between 60 – 70,000 thoughts a day. Of those thoughts, about 90% were thoughts we had the day before.Think about that for a second. 90% of the thoughts you are going to experience today were the same as the thoughts you experienced yesterday. Now, if you had a great day yesterday, then that may be a good thing. Is you had a stellar day, why not revisit those thoughts again today. Thoughts are powerful in that they trigger emotions.

Our emotions are what REALLY set the tone for our life and day to day existence. So experiencing positive, empowering emotions daily is a great thing. But, what if yesterday wasn’t such a great day. What if you were disappointed and angry most of the day yesterday? In this case, repeating the same (90%) thoughts of yesterday, and triggering the same emotions wouldn’t work to our benefit.

Awareness is key

In order to live a high performing life, where you literally squeeze the most out of every minute and truly enjoy life, it is ABSOLUTELY imperative that we are consciously aware of the thoughts that we manufacture and recycle daily. Although this may seem difficult, the fact of the matter is that it simply takes the act of installing a few habits that will align us with the important goals we have for ourselves.

Here are three habits that will help you deliberately control you thoughts, therefore your actions and emotions:

  1. Block out the noise: We live in a noisy world. TV, BillBoards, Ads, Radio, Internet, and even family and friends all contribute to how inundated we are with information overflow. If you truly want to exercise more control over your life, get into the practice of shutting down some of this OUTSIDE influence. Understand that any and all outside influence is attempting to do one thing: in some form or fashion, all outside influence is attempting to sway your mind to their form of thinking. That may be a good thing or a bad thing. It all depends on their ultimate outcome for you, and your ultimate goals for yourself. You will find that MANY times their goals for you don’t match the goals you have for yourself.
  2. Spending time with yourself: Mahatma Gandhi once said, “When you pray, you are communicating with God. When you meditate, God is communicating with you.” Cutting out time DAILY to communicate with the divine, whatever that means to you, is most definitely the most important action of the day for you to connect with higher intelligence.Unlike outside influence, creating daily still and silent times puts you in touch with the specific answers you need to move rapidly towards your most dominant goals.
  3. Measuring is the secret: In addition to still and silent times, you need times to contemplate and measure. Are you any closer to your goals than you were yesterday? If not, what changes do you need to make? If you are closer today than you were yesterday, how can you magnify that to get even more? Don’t just flow. Consciously move in a very deliberate path towards your goals.

Build the habit

Achieving high level goals requires a new control of your mind, actions and emotions. The act of shutting the world down and going into your own mind will open a whole new world of success for you. Build the habit of creating silence, meditating and measuring. Grab hold of this DAILY and you will experience an entire you level success quickly.

It’s your time to shine!
