Creating your first high-impact marketing video can seem like a daunting task, especially when you have little or no experience doing it. But video marketing cannot be ignored. Online marketing videos are the rave right now. In fact, if you are an Internet marketer and you are not yet using video, you need to get on board immediately and start taking advantage of what it has to offer.
Here is a quick 5 step outline that will help you create your first successful video. You job is simply to step out of your comfort zone and put the steps into action. If you do, you will begin the process of mastering one of the most useful marketing strategies on the planet.
#1 Define Who Your Audience Is
This is the biggest mistake most newbie video marketers make; Failing to identify their specific target market. Before you attempt to create your script, before you decide what your video is going to look and feel like, and certainly, before you start shooting your video, you need to determine who your specific audience is – who do you want to reach with your video? Are you trying to reach a certain age, a certain income bracket, a certain sex, etc. Knowing who your market is will help you to create a much better video because it will be targeted to the correct audience.
#2 Set One Goal
A common mistake is to define the audience and then create numerous goals that you want your video to achieve. The problem is that your video is too short to have more than one goal. So choose your single most important goal and focus on that. In Step #1, which is the top of your funnel, which brought in the targeted market, now in the middle of the funnel you need to engage them, and at the bottom of the funnel, you need to close. Create your video with this in mind. Now what is your goal?
#3 Turn Another Successful Content Into a Video
If you have content that has been successful – perhaps blog posts, an article, a presentation – take it and transform it into a working script for a video. Practice by reading it aloud. Make little adjustments so that it sounds right when spoken. Share it with others to get their feedback, and then when you are satisfied, create your video. The advantage of using content that you have already created is that you are already familiar with the information. It shouldn’t be hard to translate that information into a working video script.
#4 It’s Time to Record
You can record yourself using the script you’ve created – all you need is a webcam. Heck, you can use your iPhone if that’s what you have for a video camera. Don’t over think this. Playing the “if I only had” game is what stops most people from getting started, from moving forward, from being successful. The reality is that your first few videos are probably not going to be your best. So what? Do it anyway! As you continue, your videos will PROGRESSIVELY get better. However, that requires that you do one thing, produce your first video. As Nike says, “Just Do It.”
#5 Share Your Video
Once you have created your first video, you will then need to share it on your website, blog, video sharing sites, and place links on all your social media accounts. The idea is to get it out wherever you can. Ask for viewer comments. Don’t be afraid to to tell people that this is your first video. You want feedback, and more importantly, you want to discover what your audience liked and didn’t like. Then you can adjust when you go to make your next video.
That’s all there is to it. There is no reason to be afraid. In no time at all, with little equipment, you too can make your first successful marketing video. I can tell you from personal experience, video marketing can transform your bottom line results. It is a skill worth developing. Jump into it. Have fun making the mistakes that are unavoidable. Who cares? Just do it. If you do, you are going to be opening up a whole new world of marketing possibilities. This is literately a life changing decision. Now go out, have fun, and create your first video.
Remember, “It’s your time to shine!”
